If you have no experience in making something yourself, your actual work outcomes will not match your desired goals. Since Beginner creators compare their own work to their taste, you will feel a disconnect between who you feel you are, where you want to be and what you actually create.
When I make art, I feel disappointed. I think I can do better but my hand disagrees. This sunk feeling in my gut makes me want to quit, turn away from what I’m passionate about.
But we often forget that professionals weren’t born with some magical talent. Sure, some learn certain skills more quickly… yet only repeatedly trying and learning – making constant adjustments to how we approach our work – will get us to proficiency in a skill.
